Frederickson, Rodney (7 MAY 1949 - 16 MAR 2016)

A loving husband and father, Rodney Frederickson, 66 of Stanley, died, Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

He was born on May 7, 1949 in Iowa to Dale and Theone (Stanley) Frederickson. Although he grew up in Iowa, he met his soulmate Jane Burzynski in Owen.

They married on February 15, 1969 at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee.

As a local business man, he is well known for owning and operating the Stanley IGA. Rod constantly dedicated his time and energy to supporting his community. As a member of various associations, such as the Stanley Business Association, Hospital Board, Rodeo Committee, Jaycees, and the Lions Club, he contributed to the development and growth of Stanley.

He also enjoyed giving lectures in local schools and during the holidays, he donned his festive Santa costume to playing Santa Clause for special needs children, elementary children, library, and theater.

Although Rod is well known as a deeply rooted business member of the Stanley community, to
family and friends, he is most known for his endless generosity and compassion. Starting at an
early age, he sought ways to enlighten lives every opportunity that presented itself. Rod and his
family opened their home to over seven foster children, a Laotian refugee family consisting of
seven members, and nine international exchange students. Lastly, a testament to his endless love,
selflessness, compassion, and commitment to mankind, he adopted three children from South
Korea.

The world lost an amazing man, he was so full of positivity and love for everyone he met. Although Rod had many health challenges, he was always concerned about others. He would have a smile on his face and always greet you with "How the hell are you?". He would want you to live each day to the fullest and to love each other.

Rod is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jane of Stanley, his children, Lia (Chris) Campbell of
Stanley, Chris (Kim) Frederickson of Rhinelander, Julie Frederickson of Arlington, Virginia, Carla (Lonnie) Manuel of Houston, Texas and Nick Frederickson of Stanley, seven grandchildren, Liz, Marcus, Gus, Gwen, Tucker, Rodney and Alexis, his mother, Theone Frederickson of Owen and his siblings, Donna Syndergaard, Bonnie Stern, Gayle Bredlau and Jeff (Ruth) Frederickson all of Iowa, Randy Frederickson and Kim (Marilyn) Frederickson both of Owen and Kurt (Sandy) Frederickson of Marshfield. He is preceded in death by his father: Dale and sister; Kathy Rust.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Stanley with Pastor Kenneth Schmidt officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Friday at the Plombon Funeral Home-Stanley and Saturday morning one hour prior to services at the church.
