Gelhaus, James “Spetz” J. (18 JAN 1942 - 28 MAR 2016)
James “Spetz” J. Gelhaus, age 74, of Medford, died on Monday, March 28 at Cedar
Lane Apts., Medford where he had resided for the past 2 weeks, most recently
under the care of Hope Hospice.
Per his request, there will be no services held. Cremainal inurnment will take
place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford at a later date.
James was born on January 18, 1942 in Medford, WI, to Aaron Arthur and Josephine
Elizabeth (Schumacher) Gelhaus.
He attended Holy Rosary Catholic School and was a 1960 graduate of Medford High
School & attended Milwaukee School of Engineering. James never married.
After high school, James joined the U.S. Navy and served for 4 years before
moving to Milwaukee and attending Milwaukee School of Engineering. He then
worked at Square-D in Milwaukee for 6 years. James returned to Medford for a
short period of time before re-enlisting in the U.S. Navy and serving 24 years
total until his retirement. After his retirement from the military he returned
to Medford. James had a passion for fishing and enjoyed his daily routine. He
was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford.
He is survived by his siblings, William “Bill” (Judy) Gelhaus of Arizona,
Dorothy (Alan) Rhyner of Prentice, Paul (Mary Sonaglia) Gelhaus of Cable, WI,
and Jean Gelhaus of Ladysmith.
He is predeceased by his parents, Aaron Arthur and Josephine Elizabeth
(Schumacher)
Gelhaus; and sisters Mary and Virginia Gelhaus.
