Niemi, Allan Isaac (15 OCT 1931 – 31 MAR 2016)

Allan I. Niemi, age 84, Loyal, WI, died on March 31, 2016 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, in Marshfield, after a brief illness.

Allan Isaac Niemi was born on October 15, 1931 in Withee, WI, to Kauno and Julia (Raisanen) Niemi. He married the love of his life, the former June Jewett on August 15, 1953, and they shared 40 happy years together until the time of her passing in June 1994.

On October 19, 1996, Allan was blessed with a second wife and family when he married the former Janice Lindekugel.

Allan farmed full-time in Withee, until joining Pioneer Hi-Bred in 1975 as a District Sales Manager in the Seed Division. In 1986, he transferred to the Animal Health Division and worked as a Regional Microbial Products Specialist until his retirement in 1994. Never one to be idle, Allan trained to become a Black Jack dealer and was employed by the Ho-Chunk gaming casino in Nekoosa from April 1995 to July 1996. Allan was an inventor, a story teller, and believed in the goodness of people. He enjoyed helping his sons on the home farm, traveling, watching high school sports, playing Black Jack and other card games, and watching his step-grandson race cars.

Allan was a current member of the O-W Development Cooperation. He was a past member of the Loyal Lion's Club, a 12 year member of the Owen-Withee School Board, served on the church councils of both Bethany and Nazareth Lutheran Churches, and in 1965 was recognized by the state of Wisconsin as the Outstanding Farmer in Clark County.

He is survived by his wife, Janice; 3 sons: Gordon Niemi, Dale (Mary) Niemi and Roger (Ellen) Niemi; one daughter: Marlene (Scott) Skattebo; 7 grandchildren: Amber (Dave) Lischka, Hillary (Blair Bullick) Niemi, David Skattebo, Valerie Niemi, Isabel Niemi, Bryce Niemi and Kelsey Niemi; one great-grandchild: Adalyn Lischka; 2 step-children: Julie (Charlie) Loos, Jeff (Maureen) Lindekugel ; 7 step-grandchildren: Tara (Chris) Scheel, Trisha (Jeff) Palmer, Jared (Kim) Loos, Travis Lindekugel, Jason Lindekugel, Guy (Cathy) Lindekugel, Lacie (Robert) Pohl; 10 step-great-grandchildren: Tyne Scheel, Cesyn Scheel, Tryn Scheel, Devyn Palmer, Kenidi Palmer, Shawna (Zach) Young, Christopher Pohl, NoraLee Pohl, Madilyn Pohl, Hanna Lindekugel; one step great-great grandchild: Elliott Young; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Arne and Edwin; infant sister; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and close friends.

Visitation and funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, 1127 Division St., Withee, WI. The visitation will begin at 11am and continue until the time of service at 1pm. Reverends Brian Campbell and Dan Zimmerman will be officiating with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, in Withee.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for the excellent and compassionate care given to Allan during his stay at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
