The rural farm home located about a mile northeast of Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.)
and occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Bob Doan, was destroyed by fire Saturday afternoon.
The Doan’s were home when the fire broke out and summoned the Loyal Fire
Department. The fire, which apparently stated in the basement of the two story
brick house, had gained such headway by the time firemen arrived, they were
unable to save the house. Firemen were also hampered by strong winds, which
fanned the flames.
Firemen and neighbors succeeded in saving the most of Doan’s furniture and
personal effects.
The farm was owned by Mr. and Mrs. John Rakovec and the house was believed to
have been built in the late 1800’s.
