Jim Slemec, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Slemec, Willard (Clark Co., Wis.), will be
among the 275 FFA Members in Wisconsin who received the State Farmer Degree at
the annual State Convention of the Future Farmers of America, held at the
American Baptist Assembly, Green Lake, on June 11-15, 1960. Candidates are
selected on the basis of their Farming Program, Scholarship, Leadership, and
Cooperative Activities in which they have participated. Winning the degree
represents the highest award that can be achieved in the Future Farmer
organization on a state basis.
Jim has been a member of the Future Farmers of America for four years, and this
past year served as president of the organization. At the recent graduation
exercises, he was awarded the DeKalb Agricultural Award. This fall he intends to
enroll at River Falls State College and major in Agriculture.
Also attending the State FFA Convention was Frank Parkel Jr., son of Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Parkel, Willard, who will serve as official charter delegate. The
local advisor, Victor C. Wagner, accompanied the boys.
