Gullord, Peter William (23 AUG 1878 - 13 JUL 1960)

Peter William Gullord was born at Black River Falls, Wisconsin, on August 23, 1878. Here he grew to manhood and graduated with the class of 1896 at the Black River High School, and attended and graduated from the University of Minnesota Pharmacy School and followed his profession for 38 years, retiring in 1946. Mr. Gullord, who was married to Martha Zetter, Marshfield, owned and operated the Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) Pharmacy for about 25 years, leaving here in 1945 and moving to Madison, Wisconsin. They went to Montclair, New Jersey in 1953. He was president of the "L" Club in Montclair.

Mr. Gullord, who suffered a brief illness, passed away at Mountainside Hospital, Montclair, on Wednesday, July 13, 1960.

Memorial services were held at Arthur K. Brown, Inc. on Friday, July 15 at 4:00 p.m. Rev. Wm. C. Winters, pastor of the Union Congregational Church, officiated.

On Sunday, July 17, his ashes were brought to the Hill Funeral Home, Greenwood, and a Committal service was held at the Greenwood Cemetery. Judge Christensen, Janesville, who is the sub-pastor at Our Savior's Lutheran Church here, officiated.

Mr. Gullord is survived by his wife, Martha, of 658 Valley Road, Upper Montclair, N.J.; one son, Dr. Edward Gullord, Upper Montclair, N.J.; three granddaughters, Martha Gullord, New York City, N.Y.; Iva Anne Stires, Verona, New Jersey; Mildred Gullord, Upper Montclair, N.J., and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Gullord was well known in this community as a public minded man, and served on the school board for many years, as well as president of different organizations.

The Guild of Our Savior's Lutheran Church served a lunch following the service at the cemetery, at the Palmer Vinger home.
