Irvine, Joan Audrey (27 AUG 1960)

Miss Joan Audrey Irvine became the bride of Timothy J. Gruber during a 1:30 p.m. ceremony Saturday, August 27, 1960, in Immanuel United Church of Christ, Greenwood, Wis. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Quinton Irvine, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smith, Milwaukee.

Rev. Orval Egbert officiated and Ervin Steiger sang "O Promise Me" and "The Lord's Prayer," with Mrs. Alvin Albert as organist.

Miss Irvine, entering the church on the arm of her father, appeared in a floor length gown of Chantilly lace with Sabrina neckline accented by pearls and sequins, long sleeves and full skirt with side ruffles of alternating lace and tulle. Her waist length veil of illusion fell from a crown of sequins and pearls. She carried a crescent shaped bouquet of American beauty buds and stephanotis.

Street length dresses of white chiffon over white, with red poka dot polished cotton and a belt and large bow of red polished cotton and white picture hats trimmed with a red flower and white net with pearls were worn by the bridal aides. They were Miss Jacqueline Irvine, Milwaukee, sister of the bride, as maid of honr. And bridesmaids, Miss Dorene Irvine, Milwaukee, sister of the bride, Miss Carol Liebzeit, Marshfield, Miss Diane Liebzeit, and Miss Sandra Liebzeit, Greenwood, cousins of the bride. Colonial style bouquets of red sweetheart roses and stephanotis complemented their ensembles.

The groom's attendants were his brother Patrick of Milwaukee, the best man, Eldon Liebzeit and Philly Vollrath, Greenwood, cousins of the bride, Victor Irvine, bride's brother, and Peter Gruber, groom's brother, both of Milwaukee. Victor Irvine and Peter Gruber ushered wedding guests.

A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents and dinner was served in the church dining room to about 250 guests. In the evening a wedding dance was held at the Silver Done with music by the Howie Sturtz orchestra.

The bride is a graduate of Greenwood High School and is employed at Briggs and Stratton in Milwaukee. The groom graduated from West Division High School and is an electrician apprentice at Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company in Milwaukee.

The couple will make their home in Milwaukee.
