Junior Kiwanian Jake Kunze (April - 2016)
April Junior Kiwanian
Jake Kunze
A central focus of Kiwanis clubs across the nation is serving the youth of the
community and helping to ensure they have the encouragement and support to meet
life’s challenges. The the local level, clubs engage in activities and projects
that help to carry out this mission. A good example of this commitment to youth
is the Junior Kiwanian program, which has been and ongoing feature of the club
for more than 50 years.
As our Junior Kiwanian for April, the Neillsville Kiwanis Club is pleased to
have Jake Kunze in attendance at Monday meetings for the month. He is the son of
Brian and Marcy Kunze and is a senior at Neillsville High School. He was
introduced to club members by Kiwanian Herman Seebandt at the April 4th meeting
at the American Legion.
As is the case with many of high-achieving students, Kunze has put forth the
effort to excel at academics, athletic and in various extra-curricular
activities throughout his time in high school. He has been a member of the
national Honor Society for three years, has been in Spanish club and Spanish
Honor Society and served four years on student council. Additionally, he has
been a member of FFA, N-Club and participated in Skills USA/VICA. Kunze has been
a three-sport athlete for four years in football, basketball and baseball.
In the community, he has volunteered extensively as referee, scorekeeper, umpire
and instructor for youth basketball, baseball, softball, wrestling and football.
He serves as church usher and is also employed part-time at Sav-Rite.
Following graduation in the spring, Kunze will attend UW-Stevens Point where he
intends to pursue a major in wildlife ecology, with a career goal of wildlife
biologist or technician.
The Junior Kiwanian program of the Neillsville Kiwanis Club gives recognition to
outstanding senior students, provides an introduction to the concept of a
service organization and emphasizes active participation in the community
through the lifespan. Welcome Jake Kunze as Junior Kiwanian.
