Erickson, Mary C. (7 APR 1924 – 16 APR 2016)
Mary C. Erickson, age 92, of Marshfield, formerly of Unity, died on Saturday,
April 16, 2016 at Golden Living Center - Three Oaks, in Marshfield. Funeral
services will be held at 11am on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Cuddie Funeral
Home, in Loyal. Rev. Tom Myhre will officiate and burial will follow in the Town
of Beaver Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Friday, Jeffrey Heck, Logan
Olstinski, Ryan Setzer, Leslie Hebert and Shayne Schoelzel. Visitation will be
held at Cuddie Funeral Home, on Thursday, from 10:30am until time of service.
Mary Catherine Fitz was born on April 7, 1924 in Scott Township, Iowa, the
daughter of Charles and Ethel (Hooker) Fitz. She was raised on the family farm
and received her education in Iowa, graduating from Hampton High School in 1942.
Mary was united in marriage to Marvin R. Erickson on December 22, 1943 in
Franklin County, Iowa. They farmed in Iowa until 1959, at which time they
purchased a farm in Unity, WI, where they moved and raised their family. After
her husband's death on July 8, 1985, Mary continued to operate the farm for a
short time, and then sold the farm to her son, Dennis. She then moved to
Hatfield, WI and resided there until entering Golden Living Center-Three Oaks in
December 2013.
Mary had many interests, but especially loved all aspect of farming, the field
work and milking cows, spending time with her family and friends, baking,
cooking, needlework, her little dogs, especially her little poodle, Willie, and
feeding the deer.
She is survived by her son: Dennis (Susan) of Unity; three daughters: Linda
(Harvey) Heck of Greenwood, Kathy Friday of Curtiss, Marilyn Erickson-Setzer
(Donald "Duke" King) of Neillsville; 5 grandchildren: Jeffrey Heck, Melissa
(Brian) Olstinski, Jason Friday, Jennifer Friday (Scott Beatty), Ryan Setzer; 5
step-grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren; other
relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin; one sister:
Alvena Early; and 2 step-grandsons.
