Ewoldt, Shirley A. (Smith) (19 OCT 1929 - 20 APR 2016)

Shirley A. Ewoldt, age 86, of Rib Lake, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at the Golden Living Center in Rib Lake surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 29, 2016 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in the township of Greenwood, with Pastor Joseph Dietrich officiating. Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake.

Visitation will be at 9:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 29, 2016 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in the township of Greenwood.

Shirley was born on October 19, 1929, Davenport, Iowa, to Lynn Almirin and Frieda (Carstensen) Smith.

She attended Davenport area schools in Iowa.

On July 17, 1948 Shirley married the love of her life Lester E. Ewoldt. He preceded her in death on May 9, 1989.

Shirley grew up in Davenport Iowa. After her marriage, they moved to Rib Lake Wisconsin where they farmed for 40 years. Shirley loved to do crafts of all kinds, reading and taking care of her family.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Rib Lake, Tuesday Night Ladies Bowling and Saturday Night Couples dart ball leagues of Rib Lake.

Shirley is survived by her children, Dan (Cynthia) Ewoldt and Randy (Mary) Ewoldt all of Rib Lake; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; surviving sister and brother-in-laws Frances Ewoldt of Greenwood, Delores Ewoldt of Iowa, Janice Smith of Medford, and Kenneth (Mary Jo) Ewoldt of Iowa.

She is predeceased by her parents, Lynn Almirin and Frieda (Carstensen) Smith; daughters Cheryl Dake and Janine Blennert; grandson Shane Dake; and brother Thomas Smith in 1979.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Shirley’s family to be designated at a later date.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake are assisting the family with arrangements.
