Rankel, Vernon J. (13 AUG 1952 - 11 APR 2016)
Vernon J. Rankel, 63, of Colby Wisconsin, went to be with his Lord on April 11,
2016.
A visitation will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 10am to 11:30 at the
Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Memorial Service will begin at
11:30am.
Vernon was born in August 13, 1952 to George and Mary E. “Betty” (Heckel)
Rankel. He grew up on the Family Farm and was one of six children. He was
educated at UW-Stevens Point. In May 1980, he married the love of his life Karen
D. Rankel.
He found his passion for trains and traveling and did both by working for the
Railroad and by Driving Trucks. He also found he was good with his hands,
whether, it be hanging from a bridge or fixing equipment.
His greatest accomplishment in life was his four Children (Amie, Anna, Matthew
and Stanley). To hear his stories, share in his memories could make you Smile
and Laugh. Always listening and providing warm words when possible. He was a
very caring and good hearted man.
He will be greatly missed by all of the Rankel Family with numerous nieces,
nephews, and friends, will live on in our hearts.
He is Survived by his wife Karen D. Rankel: 4 Children, Amie (Goetz) Schneider,
Anna (Rankel) Greff, Matthew (Magdalena) Rankel, Stanley Rankel; 5 grandchildren
(Dylan, Vinnie, Tyler, John, and Christian); 4 siblings, Jean (Jim) Diers,
Paulette (Harry) Strey, James (Rosane) Rankel, Diane (Richard) Stolber, Gary
Rankel and his special friend Sue; and his dearest friend(s) cousin Jerry
Lundeen; John Henry (Erika) Rankel .
He is preceded in death by his parents (George and Betty) and brother Stanley.
