Appleyard, Margery A. (29 DEC 1931 – 25 APR 2016)
Margery Appleyard, age 84, of Neillsville, WI died Monday, April 25, 2016 at the
Milestone Senior Living Center in Eau Claire, WI.
Margery Ann (Rucks) Appleyard was born in Berlin, WI on December 29, 1931 the
second youngest of 11 children.
She married Melvin Appleyard on October 15, 1955. They were dairy farmers,
milking registered Holstein's and Margery was the typical farmer's wife.
She was a fantastic homemaker creating a beautiful home.
They raised two children, Mary Beth of Altoona, WI and David who is still
farming in Neillsville along with Margery's daughter-in-law, Lori Tiemann.
Margery enjoyed learning new crafts and was always sewing, gardening, knitting
or crocheting.
Margery was active with church serving on many committees at Calvary Lutheran
Church where she and Melvin were Charter members.
Margery was active in the Hilltop Homemaker's for decades as well as serving on
many county homemaker committees.
She enjoyed entering the Clark County Bakeoff each year.
She was a Camp Fire Girl and Cub Scout Leader when her children were young. She
was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher for many years. She helped
her children with their 4-H projects as well as other members with their sewing
and baking.
For 30 years she arranged a yearly trip to Chanhassen Dinner Theater and
shopping afterwards for the Clark County Women.
She always enjoyed fair time and getting her many items ready for open class.
She was a stay-at-home Mom until her children were grown. She then worked at
Figi's in Marshfield. Then she worked for 25 years making salads in the deli at
IGA, until she retired.
She was always volunteering and always had a smile on her face.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the
Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville. Pastor Chad Anderson will officiate.
Music will be provided by Jodi Rueth, organist. Visitation will be from 10:00 to
11:00 a.m., Saturday at the Calvary Lutheran Church.
