Kanneberg, Alfred E. (27 MAR 1898 – 24 JAN 1971)

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church for Alfred E. Kanneberg, 72, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), who died at 9:15 p.m., January 24, 1971, at the Clark County Hospital, Owen. The Rev. William Humlie officiated and burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jery Geiss, Bill Kanneberg, Randy Kanneberg, Randy Kocian, Wayne Neuman, Larry Makeoff, and Tom Weiss.

Alfred Kanneberg was born on March 27, 1898 in Butternut, Wisconsin. On May 10, 1919, he was married to Mae Severt at Merrill, who now resides with a daughter in Unity. He received his education in the Butternut area schools. He became a cheesemaker in Butternut and in Merrill. In 1940 he and his wife moved to Loyal and operated a cheese factory east of Loyal known as Catlin Corners. In 1945 he operated Kanneberg Tavern in Loyal. He retired in 1965 and lived in Florida in winter and Loyal in summer. He has been in Owen since October of 1970.

Alfred Kanneberg was a Charter Member of the Loayl Rotary Club and the Trinity Lutheran Church.

He is survived by two sons, Kenneth, Loyal; Edwin, Rockford, Illinois; two daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Marcella) Geiss, Merrill; and Mrs. Duane (Dorothy) Neuman, Unity; sixteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Adolph, Watersmeet, Michigan; Arnold Ashland; and four sisters, Mrs. Olga Wartgow, Milwaukee; Mrs. Frieda Blonshine, Park Falls; Mrs. Edna Froyen, Orange, California, and Mrs. Emma Jenks, Buffalo, Wyoming.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
