Wesenberg, Fred (14 DEC 1907 – 17 JAN 1971)
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, at Zion Lutheran
Church, Granton, for Fred Wesenberg, 63, of route 2, Granton (Clark Co., Wis.),
who died Sunday morning, January 17, 1971, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield,
and burial was made in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers were Leland Bass, Arnold Nitschke, Grant Rose, Leslie Keurer, Alfred
Riedel and Louis Breseman.
The congregation sang "Abide with Me" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus,"
accompanied by Mrs. Leland Garbisch, organist. Students who rode the school bus
operated by Mr. Wesenberg, attended the services in a group, also other bus
drivers, FFA students and teachers.
Mrs. Wesenberg was born December 14, 1907, in the town of Ashburn (Clark Co.)
and was married in Granton to Vera Sternitzky, December 14, 1933. The couple
operated a farm in the town of Lynn for about 36 years. He also was a bus driver
for Granton schools for many years.
He was a member of the town board of Lynn and Zion Lutheran Church of Granton.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Norman and Arnold, Granton; Roy,
Marshfield, and Harvey, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Verlyn (Frieda) Rollins,
Chili; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Wesley, Marshfield; Robert, Wis.
Rapids and Albert, Neillsville; Mrs. William Jarvis, Woodruff; Mrs. Ernest
Courtland, Neillsville and Mrs. Frank Schey, Madison; and a half-sister, Mrs.
Fred Lindner, Loyal.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and five brothers.
