Geldernick, Robert A. (21 MAY 1932 – 28 APR 2016)

Robert A. Geldernick, 83, Marshfield, died on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Atrium Post Acute Care, Marshfield.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 9529 State Highway 80 S., Marshfield, with Rev. John Guenther officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 am on Tuesday until service time at Trinity Lutheran Church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Robert was born on May 21, 1932 at home in Chili, Wisconsin, the son of James and Gertrude (Croell) Geldernick.

Bob loved to dance to old time music and fell in love with Sharon K. Anderson. They were married on October 30, 1965 and were happily married for over 50 years.

Bob was a licensed cheese maker for 24 years at Chili Milk Pool, 1 year at Knowlton Cheese Factory and worked part time for Chili Implement. Bob and Sharon bought Shorty's Supper Club and renamed it Yellow River Inn and operated it from 1976 until 1980. He then worked for Breheim Construction and Marshfield Clinic until he retired.

Bob was always available to help anyone, mentor new hires, coach 4-H softball and was a volunteer fireman for the Chili Fire Department. He was an avid bowler, ball player and loved tending his rose bushes and flowers. He danced many miles at polka fests with Sharon. He enjoyed woodworking of any kind, built 2 houses for himself and many wood crafts. He built shelving and cabinets at Trinity and helped with the addition between Trinity Church and school as well as doing work at the parsonage. Bob was a wonderful father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Sharon, and their children, Ron (Janet) Geldernick, Dale (Kerri) Geldernick, Sheila Weber, all of Marshfield, and Mark (Denise) Geldernick of Cottage Grove, MN. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren who will serve as honorary pallbearers, Melissa, David, Taylor, Nathan, Zachary, and Aaron Geldernick, Cody, Brad, Laura, and Eric Weber, and Thomas and Matthew Geldernick. Bob also has a son Lee (Terri) Geldernick of Cumberland, WI and a daughter, Merri Weber of Rice Lake, WI and a sister, Pauline Weber of Downers Grove, IL and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, 7 brothers and 2 sisters.

Special thanks to Atrium Post Acute Care for their warm and tender care and to Pastor Guenther for his many visits and prayers.

In lieu of flowers the family will designate a memorial in Bob's name at a later date.
