Ervin "Erv" Ralph Holbrook, 91, of Spencer, passed away peacefully on Monday,
May 2, 2016 at the Wisconsin Veteran's Home in King.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, May 6, 2016 at
Spencer United Methodist Church, 108 Burnett Street, Spencer. Scott Johnson will
be the officiant. Interment will follow at West Spencer Cemetery in Spencer. The
family will receive friends and relatives from 10:00 am until service time on

Erv was born on September 23, 1924 in Eau Claire, the son of Carl and Carrie
(Crooker) Holbrook and received his education in the Eau Claire area schools. He
was drafted into the United States Army in February of 1945 and was honorably
discharged November of 1946. On June 30, 1947, he married Dorothy Bradshaw in
Stillwater, Minnesota, and they began life's journey together. Throughout his
life, Erv was employed at various jobs; he worked for National Pressure Cooker,
Ladish Drop Forge, Weyerhaeuser, Land O' Lakes Cheese Division, and spent a
large portion of his life farming. Each adventure brought him to the place he
was to be in life, always learning and growing along the way. After retirement
he and Dorothy enjoyed spending the winters in Texas and Florida. Erv enjoyed
hunting and fishing and was an avid storyteller. He loved to bend the ear of
anyone who was willing to listen - always reminiscing about the good old days.
He was a tinkerer and a fixer of all things. He loved spending time with his
family.
Erv is survived by his wife of more than 68 years, Dorothy and their children
Marilyn (Lloyd) Meissner of Greenwood, Barb Horton of Eau Claire, and Dale
(Denise) Holbrook of Withee. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tim, Tammy
(Jim), Tonia (Clint), Jennifer, Scott, Sean and Eric and his great-grandchildren
Molly, Marnie, Carter, Kenadi, Hayden and Paige.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters Harley
Holbrook, Allen Holbrook, Betty Strickhauser and Rosie McCarty. He was also
preceded in death by one great-granddaughter Claire Elizabeth Urban.
