Clifton Fonstad Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Fonstad, Greenwood (Clark Co.,
Wis.), who will receive the Elks Most Valuable Student Award, is valedictorian
of the graduating class. He has also been active in a number of school
organizations and activities. He is a member of the senior band and pep band. He
is an editor of the annual, school photographer, and has been a member of the
school papers staff.
He is president of the Math Club and a member of the Photo Club and Science
Club. He has also been active in forensics work and as a member of the
discussion group. Last summer he was picked to attend the Outstanding High
School Students at Wisconsin State College at Superior. Besides scholarship,
other qualities considered in making the selection for this award were
leadership, citizenship, integrity, sportsmanship, general character and
reputation.
Recipients of the two Elks awards also compete in state and national contests
for special prizes and scholarships.
