PFC Richard G. Scherer, son of Mr. and Mrs. George C. Scherer, Greenwood (Clark
Co., Wis.), recently achieved recognition as a top Army marksman by qualifying
for the expert marksmanship badge during range firing with the carbine in
Germany.
Scherer, a mechanic in the 51st Transportation Company in Mannheim, Germany,
entered the Army in October 1960, completed basic training at Fort Riley,
Kansas, and arrived overseas last April.
The 20-year-old soldier is a 1959 graduate of Greenwood High School.
