Burtard, Elda Louise (Buss) (25 JUL 1914 - 19 APR 2016)
Elda Louise Burtard, age 101, of Abbotsford, formerly of Owen, passed away on
Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield surrounded by her
family.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the
Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. The Rev. Asafa Rajaofera will
officiate. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Town of Mayville.
Family and friends are welcome from 10:30 am until time of service Saturday at
the funeral home.
Elda was born on July 25, 1914 to Emil and Elizabeth (Buss) Buss in Green Grove.
Elda was united in marriage on November 22, 1933 to John Burtard in Curtiss and
they were blessed with five children. She loved to be a homemaker, and a
farmer's wife. Elda and John would enjoy taking a break from the farm, and
headed to their shack in Rice Lake. They also owned the DX Station in Owen for a
few years.
Elda loved to fish. Elda was a lady not afraid to get her hands dirty and even
enjoyed cleaning her own fish. She enjoyed playing cards, she knew every card
game you could think of. But most importantly, she loved being a grandma to all
her grandchildren.
Elda is lovingly survived by her five children; Kenneth Burtard (friend,
Christine), Carol (Ronald) Hofmann, Elaine (Ambrose) Schuh, Orville Burtard, and
Sally (Herbie) Bloom; and over 100 total grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and
great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister, Linda Hill;
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John on May 2, 1980, 1 brother, Henry
(Gertrude) Buss, and 3 sisters: Emma (Lloyd) Haemer, Minnie (Jack) Schneider,
Anna (Robert) Schneider; a grandchild; Donald; a great-grandson; Sean Kennedy, a
daughter-in-law, Diane and a brother-in-law, Rueben Hill.
