Ramker, Max E. (18 SEP 1923 - 23 APR 2016)
Max E. Ramker, age 92, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at St. Joseph’s
Hospital in Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11AM Thursday, April 28 at St. Bernard’s
Catholic Church in Abbotsford, officiated by Father Peter Manickam. A Visitation
will be held Thursday from 8:30 AM-10:30 AM, followed by the rosary starting at
10:30 on Thursday at St. Bernard's. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s
Catholic Cemetery in Colby following the service.
Max was born September 18, 1923 in Greene, Iowa to John and Edith (Adams)
Ramker. He graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Colby.
Max was joined in marriage to his wife, Bonnie Voelker, on September 16, 1944 at
St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Bonnie and Max owned and operated
their farm until they retired in 1977. Max bred cows for Piper Brothers, drove
truck for Harmony Coop, and did woodworking in his basement.
Max enjoyed fishing and hunting up at his cabin on Mead Lake. But most
importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family; especially those precious
grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
He is survived by his 7 children; Sandy Asplund of Colby, Mary (Dan) Lewis of
Depere, Debbie (Mel) Kurzewski of Milwaukee, Mike (Linda) Ramker of Davenport,
Iowa, Dan (Carrie) Ramker of Colby, Dawn (Craig) Lieders of Colby, and John
(Jenny) Ramker of Colby. He is further survived by 27 grandchildren, 52
great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and his sister; Betty
Peterson; along with many other nieces, nephews, friends, and other family
members.
Max is preceded in death by his wife; Bonnie (November 19, 2010), his son; Sam
Ramker, three sisters; Velma Becker, Bernice Korner, and Maxine Ramker and three
brothers; Virgil Ramker, Melvin Ramker, and Merlin Ramker.
