Peterson, Patricia L. (Sebora) (19 NOV 1930 - 19 MAY 2016)
Patricia L. Peterson, 85, Athens, died Thursday May 19, 2016 at the Aspirus
Hospice House, Wausau.
She was born November 19, 1930 in Athens, daughter of the late Dr. William and
Helen (Schlegel) Sebora.
Pat was united in marriage to Graydon Peterson on June 19, 1953, and they shared
60 wonderful years together. Graydon preceded her in death on November 6, 2013.
Pat was very proud to be a lifelong resident of Athens, graduating from Athens
High School in 1948. She attended Ripon College for one year. Pat then went on
to Marquette University, graduating in 1951 with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene.
She was a member of Alpha Delta Eta, a national professional sorority. Pat was a
longtime member of Christ United Church of Athens and was involved in its Womens'
Club for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Pat
treasured her family and friends. She was a proud Nana who was always first in
line at her grandchildren's sporting, musical, theatrical and academic
activities. Pat had a passion for reading, especially murder mystery
novels--author James Patterson had a hard time keeping one book ahead of her!
She enjoyed hosting garage sales, listening to the Old Timers' Band at the
Village Square and watching many parades at the Athens "World's" Fair. Her
family will especially miss her sense of humor, chili and brownies made with
love, caring telephone calls and great Mom hugs!!
Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Mark) Van Handel and Julie (Peter
Redmond) Peterson, two grandchildren, Meagan (Nathan) Van Schmidt and Alexander
Graydon Van Handel.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday May 27, 2016 at Christ United Church,
Athens. Rev. Terri Hanson will officiate. Burial will be in Athens Village
Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the
church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Athens Christ
United Church or to the Graydon and Patricia Peterson Scholarship Fund, awarded
yearly to a qualified graduating senior at Athens High School, in care of the
family. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, is in charge of arrangements.
