East Weston (Panther Creek) (20 Feb 1919)
When John Krejci, Frank Kubat, Oscar Northup, Charley Greeler, Clarence Bardell
and their wives and John Kelly and family of South York get it in their heads to
have a good time, they make us kids feel as though this generation had turned
around and the older people were the only ones who have life enough to have a
good time anymore. We don’t get much sunshine this cloudy winter and those kind
of people believe in making some.
The people of School District No. 6, through the management of Mr. W. Steinhaus,
met Wednesday evening, the 12th, and organized their War Savings Club. The
program given by the school teacher and Mr. Henderson’s patriotic address, were
very much appreciated by all those present.
We have never heard that Bert Dresden had a flying machine and as all of his
cars were engaged that night, it may always remain a mystery how he got the
speaker out here for us, but – well, he did a good job for us, anyway.
