Mrs. Emma Dodge went to Black River Falls Monday.
Wm. Creed was here from Unity on business Monday.
Gust Nemitz returned to the hospital at Rochester Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hazelett were here from Loyal on Sunday.
John Michael was here from Humbird Thursday on business.
Geo. Parkhill of Abbotsford transacted business here Thursday.
Mrs. Max Neverman went to Eau Claire Thursday to spend a few days.
Frank Dodge and Ernest Schoellter of town Beaver were here on Friday.
Mrs. Erv Lowe went to Black River Falls Monday for a few days’ visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Campbell went to Osseo Thursday to visit for a few days.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Holte went to Milwaukee Monday to spend a few days.
Mrs. Schlinkert has bought Mrs. Mary Bruley’s house on the north side.
Dr. and Mrs. Matheson spent Thursday at the Sparta Orphan’s Home.
W.H. Royer was here Wednesday evening to attend the new county protest meeting.
E.E. Crocker went to Tomah Thursday to see his brother who had been quite sick.
W.L. Smith went to Madison Monday on matters pertaining to the telephone
business.
Mr. and Mrs. George Frantz went to Black River Falls Thursday to spend a few
days.
Mrs. Gus. Holtz, Mrs. Leroy Allen and Miss Ella Holtz were at Marshfield on
Monday.
Mrs. Will Weast is here from Eaton for a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
John Langraf.
Will Dehnert and Pete Paulson went to Minneapolis Monday to take in the big auto
show.
Mrs. Kemery went to Altoona Thursday to spend a few days with her son, Hal, and
wife.
Mrs. Earl Harper returned home to Chicago Thursday after a short visit with
friends here.
John Carter and J.A. Phillips went to Milwaukee Monday to attend Masonic Grand
Chapter.
Miss Edna Tragsdorf came from La Crosse Friday to spend a couple days with Miss
Vivian Bartlett.
Miss Hattie Carskadden was home from La Farge for a few days owing to the death
of her little brother.
Mrs. Peter Paulson and Miss Agnes Paulson went to Minneapolis Friday to spend a
few days visiting.
Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Landry of Thorp spent a few days here last week with Mr. and
Mrs. E.J. Rossman.
Mr. and Mrs. Gus. Kaddatz returned home to Watertown Monday after a visit with
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Braatz.
Miss Meyrle Chase and Miss Beatrice Pepper went to Janesville Monday to spend a
few days with friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Wollenberg and Mrs. Fred Oelig of Greenwood were here for the
Kiltie band concert Sunday evening.
Mrs. R.V. Brown and Misses Densmore, Lewis and McCarthy entertained the teachers
of the city schools Saturday evening.
Harry Neff left on Monday for Dayton, Ohio, in response to a telegram stating
that his mother was not expected to live.
Rev. Brandt and Frank Hemp went to Eau Claire Thursday to see Herman Carl,
arriving there shortly after he had passed away.
Mrs. Pat Kelly underwent an operation for the removal of gall stones at the
Marshfield Hospital on Thursday and is getting along quite nicely.
Miss Mae Neverman is home from Milwaukee where she spent a few days in the
millinery markets. She will trim this year for Mrs. E. Bruley.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Staatz and daughter, Miss Ella, returned home to Alma Center
Monday after a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. John Langreck.
The Times erred last week in stating that Fred Schlinkert had bought the Wm.
Schlinkert farm. He purchased the home place in Weston.
Robert Weeks was at Granton Monday on business.
T.E. Brameld was at Marshfield Monday on business.
Guy Snyder was granted a divorce last week by Judge O’Neill.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hitchcock were here from Alma Center on Monday.
Norman Ziebel came down from St. Paul Friday to spend a few days.
F.J. Reichenbach was here from Black River Falls Monday on legal business.
Raymond Brameld fell last week and broke one of the bones in his left hand.
A.L. Devos transacted legal business at Stratford on Tuesday. Mrs. Devos spent
the day at Granton.
Miss Gene Peters is here from Seattle for a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. J.F.
Schuster, being on her way to New York.
Clarence Johnson, editor of the Merrillan Leader, is in the hospital at
Marshfield where he had an operation for the removal of gall stones.
W.J. Marsh left on Sunday evening to spend a week in the Chicago wholesale
markets, picking up the new ideas in dry goods and ladies’ wear for the benefit
of his customers.
Mrs. Ida Mazone served a lovely supper in honor of her mother, Mrs. Ludwig
Schultz’s 77th birthday, it being on St. Valentine’s Day. Mrs. Schultz is
spending the winter with Mrs. Mazone.
Alfred Klopf has again opened his jewelry store and is ready to do business at
his old stand. For a few months he has been employed at the depot, doing Carl
Schwentkofske’s work there during his absence in the army.
Ernest Holtz arrived home last week from France, having received his discharge
on account of his four wounds. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. August Holtz and was
a member of old Co. A of Neillsville, which is now part of the 32nd Division.
On Sunday afternoon last a Junior “Y” Club was formed at a meeting held at the
Congregational Church here. County Secretary Patey was present to help in the
organization of the club. Mr. H.A. Shedden was chosen as leader for the club,
which will meet Friday evenings at the Congregational Church, with which this
club will be affiliated. The following officers were elected: August Roder,
President; Frederick Crosby, Vice-President; Jacob Hoesley, Secretary; John
Mattson, Treasurer. This is the fourth boys’ club now at work in Neillsville.
