Lizzy Schimke Named Recipient of Choir Arion Award
During the 2016 spring POPS concert on Monday, April 25, high school choral
director Jennifer Corcoran announced that one choir student, senior Lizzy
Schimke was named the recipient of the Arion Award for choir for 2016.
The Arion Award is the oldest and most prestigious national award for
outstanding achievement by high school musicians. Established in 1948 as a way
to recognize achievement in band, orchestra, or chorus, the award honors
students who contribute to a high scholastic standing and demonstrate personal
and professional performing ability and musicianship that pair with Thorp High
School’s standards.
To qualify for an award, a student must contribute to his or her scholastic
standing or musical organization and demonstrate personal and professional
performing ability and musicianship qualities in keeping with the school’s
standards.
