Lizzy Schimke Named Recipient of Choir Arion Award

During the 2016 spring POPS concert on Monday, April 25, high school choral director Jennifer Corcoran announced that one choir student, senior Lizzy Schimke was named the recipient of the Arion Award for choir for 2016.

The Arion Award is the oldest and most prestigious national award for outstanding achievement by high school musicians. Established in 1948 as a way to recognize achievement in band, orchestra, or chorus, the award honors students who contribute to a high scholastic standing and demonstrate personal and professional performing ability and musicianship that pair with Thorp High School’s standards.

To qualify for an award, a student must contribute to his or her scholastic standing or musical organization and demonstrate personal and professional performing ability and musicianship qualities in keeping with the school’s standards.
