Verhunce, Angeline A. (12 JAN 1918 – 18 MAY 2016)
ANGELINE A. VERHUNCE, age 98, of Greenwood, formerly of Willard, passed away on
Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Atrium Post-Acute Care, in Marshfield. Funeral
services will be held 11am on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic
Church, in Willard. Rev. Steve Brice will officiate and inurnment will follow in
Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church, on Friday,
from 10am until time of service.
Angeline A. Auman was born on January 12, 1918 in Willard, WI, to Frank and
Angela (Frankel) Auman. She was raised on the home farm and received her
education at the Gorman School. As a young lady, she moved to Chicago and worked
various jobs. She was united in marriage to John Verhunce on October 21, 1939 in
Cicero, IL. They moved back to Willard in 1942, where they farmed, operated the
Campbell Coffee Shop in Merrillan, ran a resort in Hatfield, and Angeline also
worked at Weyerhauser in Marshfield. In 1964, they returned to the Chicago area,
and resided there until moving back to a home on County Highway O west of
Greenwood, the former location of the West Eaton School. Angeline worked at
Nalco, near Willard, until her retirement.
She had many interests, but especially enjoyed playing bingo, cooking, baking,
gardening and raising flowers.
Angie was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic
Women.
She is survived by 4 children: Ernie (Grace) of Theresa, WI, John Jr. (Luzviminda)
of Stratford, WI, Frank (Lois) of Allenton, WI, Irene Blair of Milwaukee, WI; 17
grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; one sister:
Antonia Panyan of Esko, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Angie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: John, on November 23,
1975; her daughter-in-law: Edna Verhunce; her son-in-law: Tom Blair; 3 brothers:
Frank Jr., Felix and Victor Auman; and 3 sisters: Anne Haugen, Stephie Gabrovic
and Mary Dergance.
