Pagel, Ronald James (21 August 1934 - 25 May 2016)
Ronald J. Pagel, age 81, of Eau Claire, WI, formerly of Thorp, WI, passed away
on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. Funeral
services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at St. Paul’s Lutheran
Church in Thorp. Rev. Paul Bittner officiated and inurnment will be held at a
later date in East Thorp Cemetery. Visitation was held at the church, on
Saturday, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Ronald James Pagel was born on August 21, 1934, in the Town of Reseburg, rural
Thorp, WI, to John and Katherine (Biddle) Pagel. He was raised on the family
farm and received his education at area schools. After completing his education,
Ron worked as a grader operator for more than 40 years, for the Town of Worden,
until his retirement. He continued to live in the Town of Worden until moving to
Sunset Homes, in Stanley, WI, in 2008. He resided there until entering Dove
Healthcare West, in Eau Claire, to be with his wife, Eleanor (nee Jenson) Pagel.
He was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Ron had many interests, but
especially enjoyed deer hunting and antique cars.
He is survived by his daughter, Deborah (Randy) Quinn of Eau Claire; three
grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers: George (Carol) Pagel of
Thorp, and William (Jo Anne) Pagel of Altoona; nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Eleanor J. Pagel, on May 23,
2016; one son, Ronald J. Pagel, Jr.; one brother, Gerald Pagel; and one
sister-in-law, Nancy Pagel.
