Fort Riley, Kansas (AHTNC) – Army Sgt. Leland D. Mayenschein, who wife, Sharon,
lives in Greenwood (Clark Co.), Wisconsin, recently participated with other
personnel from the 1st Infantry Division's 140 Signal Battalion in Exercises Red
Arrow, a 31-day series of tactical field training maneuvers at Fort Riley,
Kansas.
Exercise Red Arrow, designed to maintain the "Big Red One" Divison in combat
ready condition, featured artillery, mortar and small arms firings and combat
training maneuvers against an "Aggressor" force.
Sgt. Mayenschein, a field cable team chief in Company B of the battalion,
entered the Army in October 1957 and was last stationed in Germany.
The 23-year-old soldier is a 1956 graduate of Greenwood High School. Before
entering the Army, he was employed by the Allen-Bradley Co. in Milwaukee.
