Struensee, Irene J. (17 October 1906 - 7 June 1974)

Mrs. Edward (Irene) J. Struensee, 67, of Rt. 1 Neillsville, died Friday, June 7, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Monday from the Georgas Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Clark of the united Church of Christ officiating. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

The daugher of Parker and Julia (Northrup) Metcalf, Irene Struensee was born October 17, 1906, in the Town of York and received her education there. She was married to Edward O. Struensee on December 28, 1927, in Neillsville. The couple farmed in the Town of Weston until 1931 when they moved to a farm in the Town of Pine Valley, where they farmed since that time.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons: Calvin Struensee of Dallas, Tx, Harry Struensee of Farmington, Mn., and Dennis Struensee of Neillsville; two sisters: Mrs. Louis (Elsie) Kaudy of Greenwood and Mrs. Sadie Miller of Rt. 1 Neillsville; two brothers: Kenneth and Leon Metcalf, both of Neillsville and one grandchild.

Pallbearers were: Elliott Warlum, John Mazola, Lloyd Meyer, Jack Counsell, George Crothers and Ben Grottke.

“In the Garden” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” were sung by Wilfred Galstad. Mrs. Roger Heineck was the accompanist.

Among those attending the services were the following from out-of-town: Mrs. Calvin Struensee and Michael Struensee, Dallas, Tx.; Mrs. Blanch Lebeak, Cicero, Il.; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Struensee, Farmington, Mn; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kaudy, Greenwood; Roscoe Sears, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. James Kernan, Milwaukee and John Mazola, Fairchild.
