Bergemann, Gustave H. (29 March 1881 - 9 June 1974)
Services are to be held this (Thursday) morning at 10 a.m. from St. Mary’s
Catholic Church for a longtime county resident, Gustave H. Bergemann, 93, of
Memorial Home, who died Sunday, June 9, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
The Rev. Charles D. Brady will officiate and interment will follow in the parish
cemetery. A general rosary was recited at 8 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus
rosary was recited at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Georgas Funeral Home, where the
body of Mr. Bergemann was in state.
Gustave Bergemann was born March 29, 1881, at Black Creek and was educated in
schools there. He was married to the former Ottelia Breitenbach on June 20,
1905, in Black Creek.
The Bergemann’s moved to Granton in 1908 and purchased a hotel, which they
operated until 1916 when they sold the hotel and bought a farm in the Town of
York. The couple farmed until 1944, then retired and lived in Granton until
1966. Mrs. Bergemann preceded her husband in death.
Mr. Bergemann lived with his son, John, in Neillsville before entering the
Memorial Home in 1968. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Among survivors are six children: Marlowe Bergemann of Green Valley, Az., Harold
Bergemann of Ashville, N. C., Harland Bergemann of Greenwood, Grant Bergemann of
Bloomington, Mn, Mrs. Edward (Eileen) Davis of Janesville and John R. Bergemann
of Neillsville; and 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
