Brown, Faye E. (26 FEB 1881 – 21 JAN 1963)
Mrs. Carl Brown, formerly Faye E. Hunt of Greenwood (Clark Co.), Wisconsin,
passed away on January 21st, 1963 at Syracuse, N.Y. Faye (Hunt) Brown was born
in Wisconsin on February 26, 1881. She spent her girlhood in Greenwood, where
her father, H.W. Hunt, ran a general store for many years. She graduated from
one of the first classes of Greenwood High School and attended the Alumni dinner
in may of 1960, while visiting old friends in the city.
She married Dr. Carl H. Brown, a practicing dentist in Greenwood, and they made
their home in Greenwood until about 1906. At that time the land claims in North
Dakota took the doctor's interest. He gave up dentistry, bought a team of
horses, and they drove west in a covered wagon. Several eyars later, after a sod
hut life on their claim, they returned to Loyal, Wis., where the doctor practice
until 1919.
After World War One, they again returned to the land and moved to a farm near
Brewerton, New York. They made their home on the farm since that time, the late
Dr. Brown passing away several months ago.
Mrs. Brown was always interest in music and was the organist at her Baptist
Church new Brewerton for many years. She was a member of the Methodist Choir in
Greenwood for many years also.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edwin Rycraft of Rochester, New York, one
son, Hollis Brown, on the farm near Brewerton, one granddaughter and three
brothers, Newell, Marion and Dr. Hale W. Hunt, all of Wisconsin.
