Shelley, Violet (14 JUN 1883 – 15 MAR 1968)
Funeral services for Mrs. Violet Shelley, 84, a former Unity resident who died
March 15, 1968 at her home in Riplinger (Clark Co., Wis.), were held at 1:30
p.m. Monday at the Colby Methodist Church.
The Rev. R. James Hagen officiated and burial was made in the town of Brighton
Cemetery.
The Lulloff Funeral Home of Colby was in charge of the services.
She was born in the town of Brighton (Marathon Co., Wis.) June 14, 1883, and
following the death of her mother, she was raised from infancy by an aunt, Mrs.
Dorothy Chapman. Her marriage took place June 23, 1900, to George Shelley, at
Medford.
They lived in Unity until his death in 1937, when she moved to Riplinger.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and the Colby VFW auxiliary. She was
also a Gold Star mother.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Neumann, route 1, Spencer,
Mrs. Reinhold (Mildred) Gripentrog, River Falls, and Mrs. Anthony (Geraldine)
Schuh, Colby, and two sons, William of South Gate, California, and Leon,
Marshfield.
There are 48 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, and 2
great-great-grandchildren.
