Anton Van Dreel, formerly of Milan, was 93 years old Saturday. The anniversary
was celebrated Sunday afternoon at Sunnyvale Infirmary, Wausau, where he has
been a resident since November.
Relatives who attended included his three sons-in-law and daughters, Mr. and
Mrs. Alfred Carter and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Amacher of Abbotsford, and Mr. and
Mrs. Leo Diers of Athens; grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Zettler of Athens,
Miss Myra Amacher and Alvin Amacher of Abbotsford, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Schreiner of Marathon, and a niece and nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Simons of
Appleton.
The afternoon was spent in playing sheepshead, the nonagenarian's favorite game,
after which the decorated birthday cake and coffee were served.
Mr. Van Dreel was born March 16, 1875 in Outagamie County. He came to Marathon
County in 1905. He farmed for 65 years before retiring. Mr. and Mrs. Van Dreel
lived in Abbotsford for a number of years, and 19 years ago moved to Milan.
After Mrs. Van Dreel's death in 1959 he continued living there until last
November.
