Pickrell, Alma (1905 – 22 MAR 1968)
(buried at Colby Memorial as Alma Luchterhand)
Alma Luchterhand Pickrell, 62, a native of the Colby area, died March 22, 1968
at Northwest Community Hospital in Chicago.
She had been afflicted with cancer for the past 22 years, and before death she
had arranged her body should be donated to an Illinois medical college to help
in the fight against cancer. Her ashes will later be buried in the family plot
at the Colby Memorial Cemetery.
A memorial meeting will be held at the Polnaszek Funeral Home at Abbotsford
Sunday, March 31, at 2:30 p.m. It was her wish that now flowers be given and
that condolences be expressed through donations to the American Cancer Society.
Her husband, Merle Pickrell, was a casualty in the battle for Iwo Jima during
World War II.
She is survived by three brothers, Ernest of Colby, Emil of Unity, and Elmer of
Scarsdale, New York, and a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Grover of Minneapolis.
