Braatz, Jeanette R. (27 April 1922 - 16 February 2016)

Jeanette R. Braatz, 93, formerly of Beaver Dam, passed away Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at the Light House of Sun Prairie, Sun Prairie, WI.

Jeanette was born April 27, 1922, in Neillsville to the late John and Mary (Pruka) Ehlers. She graduated from Neillsville High School in 1939 and attended Stevens Point Teachers College. She taught in Thorp, Merrillan, Neillsville and Beaver Dam. Jeanette was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Braatz in 1947 in Granton. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, where she was active with the altar guild. She was also a member of the Hummel Club and AARP.

Jeanette is survived by her sister-in-law, Muriel Ehlers of Brookfield and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brothers: Art, Rudy, Bill, Paul, Glenn, Eugene and Irving Ehlers; and her sisters: Minnie Atwood, Helen Hogue, Lillian Meyer, Evelyn Junchen and Dorothy Kreier.

A memorial service to celebrate Jeanette’s life will be held Saturday, June 25, from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam, with Rev. Terry Larson officiating. A luncheon will be served following the service at the Cornerstone. Inurnment of Bob and Jeanette’s cremains will take place at Neillsville City Cemetery Monday June 27, 2016.

Memorials in Jeanette’s name may be directed to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 311 W. Mackie St. Beaver Dam, or to the charity of choice.
