Mellenthin, Lois (28 FEB 1930 – 17 JUN 2016)
Lois M. Mellenthin, age 86, of Marshfield formerly Spencer, passed away on
Friday June 17, 2016 at Wells Nature View CBRF in Marshfield.
Her Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Saint
John's Lutheran Church in Spencer with Pastor Rebekah Tarras officiating.
Committal services will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Family and
friends are invited to gather on Wednesday at Life Tributes Funeral Home in
Spencer from 5PM until 8PM and again on Thursday at the church from 10AM until
time of services.
Lois was born on February 28, 1930 in Spencer, the daughter of Harold and Vera
(Dike) Freeman. She graduated from Spencer High School. Lois was united in
marriage to Kenneth Mellenthin on February 25, 1948 at Saint John's Lutheran
Church. Sadly, Kenneth passed away on November 29, 2010.
Her work career included employment at Artcraft Wick Building System in Spencer
and as a cook for the Spencer Public School System along with being a dedicated
mother and homemaker.
Those that knew Lois knew she liked to keep busy and was always willing to help
others and give of her time and talents. Her hobbies included spending time at
the cabin or pontooning on the lake, going bowling, tending to her garden,
canning vegatables, doing some fishing or making beautiful quilts and rugs for
family and friends and enjoyed her grandchildren.
Lois was a long time member of Saint John's Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid
and Choir.
Survivors include her five children: Dianna (Frank) Jacobitz of Spencer, Becky
(James) Murphy of Baraboo, Ronald (Rebecca) Mellenthin of Flagler Beach, FL,
Julie (William) Ausbourne of Stratford and Debra (Neil) Wakershauser of
Wisconsin Dells; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law
Karen Mellenthin of Marshfield; one brother Robert (Jan) Freeman of Marshfield;
one sister Vera Keyes of Marshfield along with many other relatives and friends
and her extended family including the residents and staff at Wells Nature View
in Marshfield.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, a son Dennis, a
brother Russell; three sisters: Virgene, Marjorie and Lucy and a son-in-law
Steve Meidl.
