Legion Post 73 Installs New Officers

By Todd Schmidt

At its June 6 meeting, Neillsville American Legion Post 73 installed new officers for the year.

Wendell Kuhn was appointed as commander. The balance of the officers were installed as follows: Bill Riddle, first vice; James Myers, second vice; Janice Ladd, third vice; Chip Chadwick, adjutant; and Bill Kuhn, treasurer.

The July meeting of Post 73 and the Ladies Auxiliary will be held Wednesday, July 6, as the first Monday of the month is the July 4 holiday.

July 6 meeting attendees are invited to gather at 6 p.m. to enjoy a steak sandwich, with the meeting to follow at 7 p.m.

Program coordinator Carol Schaub said the Legion would not be honoring any veterans at the July meeting. “Watch The Press July 27 for stories about the veterans we will honor at the Aug. 1 meeting,” Schaub said.

It was announced the Legion is sponsoring a brat sale at Gordy’s Market Wednesday, July 20.

The Ladies Auxiliary funded a hanging basket for the city in memory of Ruby Kuhn. An afghan was raffled and was won by Tabitha Huth.

The Ladies Auxiliary honored Lorraine Flynn for her many years in the Auxiliary and for volunteering in the kitchen and for other events. Flynn is also a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Flynn’s family, residents and staff of the Neillsville Retirement Community and Auxiliary members enjoyed cake and coffee the day the recognition certificate was presented to her.
