Clark Co. Historians (Colby Depot - 1974)

Historians braved the rainy weather last week Thursday to attend the regular meeting of the Clark County Historical Society at the Colby Depot Museum. Numerous articles were brought in for displaying. All will be identified with proper labels.

Articles needed include railroading displays, less common kinds of milk cans, bottles and milk stools, as well as other dairy related articles. All should have a written explanation of the original owner, date, etc., if available and also the name of the donor or loaner.

Those who are accepting articles for the society are Mrs. Ruby Yndogliato and Mrs. Genevieve Hantke, Neillsville; Mrs. Pearl Vorland, Colby; William Sisson, Greenwood; Florence Garbush and Mrs. Marie Vajgrt, Loyal; Arno Vater and Lee Haines, Withee; Everett Kauffmann, Chili; and Elsie Bremer, Abbotsford.

Appreciation was extended to all who donated or helped at the Hatfield celebration. Everett Kauffmann entered his Model A in the parade for the society.

Father John of St. Hedwig’s of Thorp talked about the early history of the church and the condition of the old church building. The discussion led to the possibility of holding a meeting at the Quonset later this year.

A work day was set or Wednesday at the Colby site.

The customary picnic will be held at Snyder Park west of Neillsville, on Sunday, July 7. Potluck picnic dinner will be at one o’clock with liquid refreshments being furnished. Residents and former residents of the Town of Hewett are also invited to attend.
