Hilber, Linda L. (Marriage - 14 June 1974)
Miss Linda L. Hilber and Thomas E. Degenhardt were married Friday, June 14, in a
7 p.m. ceremony performed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby, by the Rev.
Francis Rushman. A reception followed at the Colby VFW Hall.
Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Alex Hilber, Sr., Colby. Mr. and Mrs.
Roman Degenhardt, Rt. 1 Loyal are the groom’s parents.
Presented in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a gown of sheer nylon
organza detailed with a square, scalloped neckline and an A-line skirt with an
attached chapel train. Clusters of simulated pearls and sequins trimmed the
bodice, which was further enhanced by lace accents. Her open crown lace Camelot
cap was adorned with pearl beading and satin ribbon side bows. A cluster of
white and pink rosebuds formed the bridal bouquet.
Matron of honor Mrs. Relinda Jones, Wausau, friend of the bride, wore a pink
taffeta crepe gown with a scalloped neckline and ribbon sash. Bridesmaids Dianne
Hilber, Colby, sister of the bride, and Kitty Degenhardt, Loyal, sister of the
groom, were dressed in identically styled gowns of light blue taffeta crepe.
Each carried a single, long stemmed carnation tinted to match her dress.
Jay Bowman, Alma Center, cousin of the groom, acted as bestman. Groomsmen were
Tom Hilber, Colby, brother of the bride, and Joe Wolf, Loyal, friend of the
groom. Alex Hilber, Jr., Marshfield and Richard Wolf, Loyal, served as ushers.
Music at the wedding was by St. Mary’s Choir, soloist Mrs. Debra Ven Roy, and
organist Mrs. Alois Gabriel.
The bride is a 1974 graduate of Colby High School. Her husband is employed by a
Withee silo company. They will live in Loyal.
