Wanish, Daniel John (2 OCT 1948 - 11 JUN 2016)
Daniel John Wanish, 67, Catawba, died at his home on Saturday, June 11, 2016.
He was born in Catawba on October 2, 1948, the son of John and Mary (Rafko)
Wanish.
He was a 1966 graduate of the Phillips High School. He attended the University
of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where he earned Bachelor’s Degrees in Biology and
Psychology. He later attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout where he earned
his Master of School Counseling Degree.
He worked for a number of years as a school guidance counselor. He was married
to Alice Dolan on April 11, 1981, and they later divorced.
He served on the Price County Board of Supervisors and was currently an active
member of the Catawba Cemetery Board. He loved spending time in the great
outdoors and worshiped God through nature. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching,
hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed showing his love for family, friends, and
neighbors through visiting, cooking, and gifts of homemade jams, jellies, and
salsa. Last but not least, he always enjoyed a good game of cards.
He is survived by two daughters, Rosalyn (Joe) Ciepluch, Lannon, WI, and Casey
Wanish, Denver, Colorado; and by one sister, June (Len) Gilbertson, Maiden Rock,
WI; and by one sister-in-law, Laurie, Madison, WI; by nieces and nephews, and by
many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and by two brothers, Kerry Wanish and
Robert Wanish.
Memorial services will be held at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Catawba at
11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 18, with Pastor Jody Becker officiating. Friends
may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
