Garbisch, Orville Raymond (13 April 1942 - 24 June 2016)
Orville R. Garbisch, 74, of Granton died peacefully Friday, June 24, 2016, at
the House of the Dove in Marshfield after a courageous 17-year battle with
cancer.
Orville Raymond Garbisch was born April 13, 1942, the son of Edward and Emma (Retta)
Garbisch. He attended Granton area schools and then started farming. He worked
for Cenex Co-op and then managed Chili Feed and Seed. In 1979, he started his
own business, Orv’s Mobil. He sold the business to Drescher Oil and continued to
work for them until he retired. Orv was a school bus driver for the Granton
School District.
He was united in marriage to Jeannie Krause. She died in 1975. In 1976, he was
united in marriage to Sharon Steiner.
Orville was involved in numerous activities in the Granton community. He played
many years of slow-pitch softball, played in the Lynn Baseball League, bowled,
served on the Granton Village Board and the Zion American Lutheran Church
Council. He was a lifetime member of the Granton FFA Alumni and had 30 years
perfect attendance with the Granton Rotary Club, Orv also received the Paul
Harris Fellowship recognition from Rotary International. He loved a good game of
cribbage, Friday fish fries and cheering on the Green Bay Packers. His greatest
enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially attending his
grandchildren’s activities and time with his many nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; children: Crystal Garbisch of Marshfield,
Darin (Annette Lamb) of Fond du Lac and Carmin (Craig) Elsinger of Spencer; four
grandchildren, Marissa and Angelica Maney and Morgan and Austin Elsinger; a
brother, Wallace (Patricia) Garbisch of Granton, mother-in-law, Jeanette Steiner
of Granton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jeannie;
daughter-in-law, Lori; brother, Gary; and father-in-law, Francis Steiner.
A memorial service for Orville will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 29,
2016 at the Zion American Lutheran Church in Granton. Pastor Dan Zimmerman will
officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior
to the service. Interment will be in the Zion American Lutheran Church Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Granton Community Center
Wednesday after the services.
