Tober, Mr./Mrs. Emil (Gold – 29 MAY 1968)
The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Emil H. Tober of Unity was
observed with a special service May 26 at St. John's Lutheran Church,
Pittsville.
On the date of their anniversary, May 29, 1968, a buffet dinner was served to
105 friends and relatives at 6 p.m. An open house had been held that afternoon
at the Unity Memorial Hall, which was decorated in gold and white, with
chrysanthemums, carnations and lilacs.
Mrs. Tober wore a corsage of cymbidium orchids.
Among the honored guests was the bridesmaid for their marriage, Mrs. Arthur Dux
of Granton.
The couple was married May 29, 1918, in the town of Sherman in Clark County,
Wisconsin. They lived at Granton from 1918 to 1927, where he was a cheesemaker,
and then took up farming near Unity, until their retirement in 1961. They are
members of Zion Lutheran Church, Colby.
Emil H. Tober was born October 16, 1896, at Clintonville. He received his
education at Pella Lutehran School there. His hobbies, now that he is retired,
include fishing, cards and watching baseball.
The former Edna Ethel Krueger was born September 28, 1898, at Milwaukee. She
received her education in the town of Sherman schools, near Spokeville. Her
hobbies include reading, fishing and crocheting.
The couple has one son, Leo E. Tober Sr. of St. Petersburg, Florida, four
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Among the guests attending were their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leo
Tober, and a surprise guests, their grandson, Mr. and Mrs. Leo E. Tober Jr.,
also of St. Petersburg.
Also attending were a brother of Mr. Tober, Mr. and Mrs. William Tober of
Shawano, a sister of Mrs. Tober, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lemke of Embarrass, Minn.,
and a cousin, Mr. and Mrs. William Bilbreit of Neillsville.
Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Nitschke and son, Mr. and Mrs.
Martin C. Krause, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Anding, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Breseman, Mrs.
Clark Books and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dux of Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Ewert
and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Verkuilen of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Nels A. Anderson,
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Burnett, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Dallman and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis
Dallman and Sons of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bladl of Owen; Miss Giacomina
Colocci, AFS student from Italy at the Colby High School, Pastor and Mrs. D.T.
Pankow and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Braun of Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Salem Johnson of
Abbotsford; and Mrs. Adele Johnson of Withee.
