Probably John needs no introduction because he is a very prominent figure in our
community, but just in case you don't recognize him, he is our town's one and
only policeman. He has held that occupation for 2 years and belongs to two
police organizations. He says that "Being a policeman is alright. It has its ups
and downs, but it is interesting." He likes it better than driving a bus, which
he did for 9 years while he farmed. He likes serving the public and keeping the
town of in order.
John enjoys all types of hunting, and he goes fox hunting with Leo Olson. He
remembers one season that he got 40 fox. He also enjoys deer hunting with his
boys, and Gail Susa. A while back he used to go up north, but now he prefers to
hunt near home, so he can be at home during the evening.
He also has a Black Tanse dog which is a great deal of help in hunting.
He knew his wife almost all of his life, and they started dating in 1938, and
were married in 1039. They were originally from Phillips, Wis., and they came to
Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) and started farming in 1945. They have four
children: Phil, John Jr., Dick and Rita.
John's future plans are to retire and enjoy himself.
