Art has operated the Blue Mirror Bar and Bowling Alley for the past five years. He was born in Saint Claire County and later moved 5 miles south of Thorp in the Town of Reseburg.

The first job that he every held was selling Ward's products. Later he began farming about 3 miles south of Greenwood. Even though he enjoyed farming extremely, he moved to Madison. After discovering that the city was no place for him, he came back to Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) and bought the Blue Mirror. He still prefers farming to any other job because there are so many difficulties involved in doing public work, and it is much more demanding than farming. He doesn't like to "punch the clock." This is why farming is the ideal life for Art.

One of the hardest jobs that Art has held is when he did a type of construction work for the P.W.A. That was when times were "rough," as Art put it.

Art once flew in an airplane with his son David and an experienced pilot. He enjoyed it immensely and hopes to be able to do it again. He does, however, think that he'd be safer on the ground, and isn't too sure if he'd do it again or not.

There are 7 children in Art's family. He has 4 girls and 3 boys, 5 of which are married. One boy, David, and one girl, Diane, are still at home.

Even though Art prefers farming over all other occupations, he likes his present occupation because he meets so many people and most of them are wonderful folks.
