Carl Christian Hoehne, 93, a former Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) resident, died
of complications thur
Evening, October 17, 1963 at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Leonard Braatz, in Milwaukee, where he had been residing for the past 2 1/2
years.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Zion United Church of
Christ here. The Rev. Orval Egbert officiated and burial was made in the
Greenwood Cemetery. Hill Funeral Home had charge of funeral arrangements.
Carl C. Hoehne was born January 31, 1870 in Watertown. His marriage to E. Lena
Runkel, who preceded him in death, November 6, 1953, took place June 7, 1903 at
Reedsville. He came to Greenwood in 1901, and for many years had operated C.C.
Hoehne Hardware, Inc., now operated by his sons, George and Julius.
Mr. Hoehne had served as a member of the Greenwood School Board for many years,
and also had been a member of City Council, a member of the Masonic Lodge, the
Eau Claire Consistory, and Zion United Church of Christ.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Ilma) Braatz, Milwaukee; and Mrs.
Oscar (Nelda) Dyre, Morehead, Minn.; two sons, George and Julius, Greenwood; two
sisters, Mrs. Martha Winter and Miss Dorothy Hoehne, Milwaukee; and a brother,
Albert, Milwaukee.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
