Hill, Edna A. (24 MAY 1920 – 22 JUN 2016)
Edna A. Hill, age 96, of Colby, formerly of Owen, passed away peacefully on
Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Colby Retirement Community. A Memorial Service will
be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday July 8, 2016 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in
Curtiss. Pastor Nancy Amacher will officiate. Interment to follow at the
Riverside Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome from 12:00 p.m. until the
time of the service on Friday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home
in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.
Edna was born May 24, 1920, the daughter of Henry and Helmi (Niemi) Rytkonen in
Keewatin, MN. She graduated from Keewatin High School and Eau Claire Nursing
School. Edna was united in marriage to Benhart Hill on September 23, 1944 in
Owen. She worked for a short time at the hospital in Owen and then for the Clark
County Health Care Center from 1942 until her retirement in 1982. She was a
Registered Nurse , Director of Nursing, and held an Administrators license.
Edna was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Curtiss. She liked to travel
and also spend time at their cabin on Lake Holcombe. Edna very much enjoyed
making braided rugs and playing her organ. She was especially proud that all of
her grandchildren are college graduates.
Edna is survived by her two sons: Jerry (Esther) Hill of Elkhart Lake and Don
(Judy) Hill of La Crosse; four grandchildren: Thomas (Jenny) Hill of China,
Rebecca (David) Grassl of Fox Point, Craig (Jennifer) Hill of Rochester, MN and
Tracie (Brett) Schendel of Eden Prairie, MN; seven great-grandchildren: Twins
Joshua and Jacob, Joseph Hill; Alex and Nolan Grassl; Kendall and Mason Hill.
She is further survived by a half-sister, Audrey Metcalf of Holcombe;
sister-in-law, Linda Hill of Marshfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.

The family would like to thank Jim and Julie Hill and Theresa for their special
love and support for Edna. They also want to express their gratitude to the
wonderful staff at the Colby Retirement Community where Edna truly enjoyed her
last years.
