Rauen, Mabel H. (Schmitt) (16 DEC 1915 - 6 AUG 2012)
Mabel H. Rauen, 96, formerly of Edgar, died Monday August 6, 2012 at Marywood
Convalescent Center, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice
Services.
She was born December 16, 1915, in Appleton, daughter of the late William and
Clara (Auner) Schmitt. On November 28, 1935, she married George Rauen at Holy
Trinity Catholic Church, Poniatowski. He preceded her in death.
Mabel and George operated multiple cheese factories in the Willard area. Later,
they owned and operated dairy farms in the Poniatowski area until their
retirement. The Rauens were involved in Charismatic prayer groups through the
years, enjoyed square dancing and were members of a couples homemakers club.
Mabel enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Foresters.
Survivors include five sons, Norbert Rauen, Weston, Don (Jan) Rauen, Wausau,
Bill (Sharon) Rauen, Hamburg, Gary (Holly) Rauen, Athens, Dale (Kathy) Rauen,
Edgar, 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, one
sister, Henrietta Gaulke, Wausau, four sisters-in-law, Marie Rauen, Edgar,
Marcella Kraft, Poniatowski, Lorraine Doering, Wausau and Thelma Rauen,
Milwaukee.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law,
Lucille Rauen, one brother, Sylvester Schmitt, three sisters, Viola Zynda,
Rosella Albrecht and Loretta Neuens.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at Noon Wedensday, August 8, 2012 at Holy
Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. Rev. Robert Streveler will preside. Burial
will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Weds. From 9:00 a.m. until
the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, at Mabel's request, a
memorial fund is being established.
