Rauen, Joseph F. (15 APR 1920 - 14 APR 2005)
Joseph F. Rauen, 84, 1328 County Rd. H, Edgar, died Thursday, April 14, 2005 at
his home under the care of Marshfield Home Care.
He was born June 15, 1920 in the town of Rietbrock, son of the late Frank and
Mary (Meyer) Rauen.
On June 22, 1948, he married Barbara Mallak at St. Anthony Catholic Church,
Athens. She survives.
Joseph farmed the family homestead and retired in 1987. The family farm is still
in operation by his son, Duane. Joseph drove school bus for Leonard Reiche and
Marathon schools. He later drove bus for Ray Fischer Bus Service, Fenwood, for
the Edgar School District.
He was a lifelong member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski, where he
served on the Parish Council, Church Finance Committee, and annual church picnic
reunion committee. Joseph was also a lifelong member of the Catholic Society
Order of Foresters.
Joseph enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, bird-watching, backroads sight-seeing,
traveling, playing cards and spending time on the farm, especially driving
tractor. He enjoyed listening to baseball games, especially his favorite team,
the St. Louis Cardinals. His greatest joy was spending time with all his family
and friends, who loved him dearly.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; four children, Donna (Michael) Kaiser,
Mosinee, Duane (Barb) Rauen, Edgar, Diane (John) Artus, Marathon, Doreen (Mark)
Johnson, Colfax; two sisters, Josephine Bergs, Edgar, and Dolores Mauer, Athens;
grandchildren, Loren Kaiser, Erika (Bob) Smithpeter, Anthony (Amie) Kaiser; Lee,
Joseph, Johanna, Angela and Bryan Kaiser, James (Tina) Rauen; Ashley, Chelsey
and Lesley Artus, Joshua and Cassandra Johnson; step grandchildren, Terra
(Craig) Orth; Trudy, Trent and Trista Artus; great grandchildren, Ben and Evan
Kaiser, Angelica and Joseph Rauen and Jackson Smithpeter; one step great
grandson, Xavier Becker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elmer; a sister, Irene
Boris; a grandson John Matthew Artus; brothers-in law, James Boris, Gilbert
Mauer and Paul Bergs.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2005 at Holy
Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. Rev. Charles Hiebl, Rev. Joseph Diermeier
and Deacon LeRoy Knauf, will preside.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 to
8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar and again on Monday from 9:00
a.m. until the time of services at the church.
There will be a 7:15 p.m. parish and Forester rosary service at the Edgar
funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
Pallbearers for the funeral will be James Rauen, Joshua Johnson, Joseph Kaiser,
Anthony Kaiser, Lee Kaiser, Trent Artus, Dan Mauer and Ken Mallak.
