Voss, Lannie G. (26 JUN 1932 - 4 JUL 2016)
Lannie G. Voss, age 84, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016 at Golden Living
Center - Continental Manor in Abbotsford.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at First
United Church of Christ in Colby. Pastor Teri Hanson will officiate. Interment
will follow at the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors provided by
the Colby VFW Post #2227.
Family and friends are welcome from 11:00 AM until time of service Thursday at
the church.
Lannie was born on June 26, 1932 in Dorchester, the son of Edmund and Mildred (Ecke)
Voss.
Lannie was united in marriage to Elaine Erickson in November of 1955. They later
divorced.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his
discharge, Lannie held various jobs including farming, working for Meyer
Manufacturing, various cheese factories and driving truck. He also owned the
Colby Cafe and Club 64.
Lannie was a member of First United Church of Christ in Colby and the Colby VFW
Post #2227. He enjoyed polka music, fishing, camping and cooking. Lannie
especially cherished his family.
Lannie is survived by his special friend, Marianne Thorson of Abbotsford, three
children: Gary Voss of Abbotsford, Lanny Scott Voss of Antigo and Debby (Rick)
Hardrath of Abbotsford; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is
further survived by a brother, Eddie (Arla) Voss, Jr. of Colby and a sister,
Bonnie (JJ) Jensen of Medford; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his ex-wife, Elaine.
