Richard A. Cole, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Cole of Colby, took for his bride,
Miss Sharon Dawn Rachu, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Rachu of rural Unity,
Saturday, June 15, 1968)
Father John Olson, Pastor of St. Mary's, officiated at the 1 p.m. ceremony.
Music during the ceremony was provided by the children's choir, with Mrs.
Gabriel accompanying them.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of
Chantilly lace over taffeta with a scalloped neckline and slim skirt. Peau de
soie trimmed the waistline with sequins adorning the bodice. The back was
completed by an all lace Watteau train embellished with sequins and attached at
the shoulders. A bouffant illusion veil was secured to a lace pearl cluster
headpiece trimmed with pearls and aurora borealis crystal. The bride's bouquet
was composed of red roses and stephanotis.
Miss Gloria Rachu of Unity served as her sister's maid of honor, and Mrs. Ray
Rachu, sister-in-law of the bride, Colby, and Miss Sharon Cole, sister of the
groom, Colby, served as bridesmaids.
The attendants wore dresses of aqua styled with a lace bodice, empire waist with
a satin band, chiffon crepe straight skirt with a chiffon train attached at the
shoulders. The maid of honor carried a bouquet of yellow daisies and the
bridesmaids carried bouquets of white and yellow daisies.
Performing the duties of best man was Duane Noeldner of Loyal, a friend of the
couple. Ray Rachu, brother of the bride, and Darryl Meyer of Unity, a friend of
the groom, were groomsmen.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Unity Memorial Hall. Dinner
wwwas at St. Mary's gym, and a dance at the Unity Memorial Hall ended the days
festivities.
The groom is employed at the Packaging Corporation in Colby. Following a wedding
trip to Nashville, Tenn., the couple will make their home in Colby.
Guests came from Loyal, Wausau, Stratford, Milan, Edgar, Oshkosh, Menasha,
Rhinelander, Medford, Marshfield, Schofield, Merton, Mosinee, Dorchester,
Spencer, Granton, Fremont, Colby, Unity and Milwaukee.
