Susa, Albert F. (24 JUN 1889 – 13 DEC 1963)

Albert F. Susa, who was born and raised in the Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) area, and a former long-time resident, who owned and operated a farm west of Greenwood until 1935, died of a heart attack Friday, December 13, 1963, at the age of 74, in Esparto, California, where he had lived the past 9 years.

Born June 24, 1889 on what is now the Howard Susa farm west of Greenwood, he was one of six children. After service in the Army in World War I, he returned to the Greenwood area and subsequently was married to Lydia McCammant. To them were born three sons, Edward, Gilbert and Albert Jr. The marriage dissolved in 1937. After leaving the Greenwood area he worked as a cook in a CCC camp near Ashland until his transfer to Green land in 1941. Leaving Greenland in 1943 he worked at the DuPont plant in Virginia until 1947, at which time he transferred to the Island of Guam. In 1952 he returned to Wisconsin for a six month visit with his 2 sons, Gilbert and Albert Jr., returning to Guam in the fall of 1952. He worked there until his retirement in 1955, at which time he settled in California.

He is survived by his 2 sons, Gilbert of Clintonville; Albert Jr. of Milwaukee, and brothers, Joseph Susa, Greenwood, John Susa, Greenwood; and sisters, Sophie Pieper and Hattie Bodwin, both of whom are now residing in Milwaukee.

Preceding him in death was his oldest son, Edward, who was killed in service in World War II, and his brother, Paul Susa, of the Greenwood area.

Because of an expressed preference, he was laid to rest on December 19, 1963, in a Military ceremony in Esparto, California.
